Sawyer Road AR Challenge Goes International, May 21![]() Sawyer Road Elementary students reached their Accelerated Reader (AR) Marietta Reads! goal for the year. They recently celebrated with “The International Book Cabana” virtual cruise around the world. The school goal was to reach 45,000 AR points (an increase of 7,000 points over last year). Top Reader Extravaganza for elementary students hosted by Scholastic Book Fairs in Kennesaw. Sawyer Road Organic Garden Yields First Harvest, Apr. 30 ![]() Third grade students at Sawyer Road Elementary harvest broccoli from their organic garden. The students worked together to find the plants that were ready. The broccolis were enjoyed in salad bar fashion with other vegetables. Healthy and tasty! |
Sawyer Road Teacher – Kiwanis April Apple Teacher, Apr. 29
![]() Sawyer Road Elementary third grade teacher, Kristen Dawson was recently named Kiwanis April Apple Teacher. Essay writers were required to write how their teacher has inspired them. Dawson’s student, Reneisha, won the first annual Kiwanis April Apple Essay contest for her essay “The Queen of Third Grade”. The essay was selected as the top winner out of 44 submitted essays from every elementary school in the school system. Photos» Sawyer Road Kindergarteners Help Feed Needy, Mar. 15 ![]() Sawyer Road Elementary kindergarteners recently prepared 60 sandwiches for the food pantry at MUST Ministries. Parents provided supplies and support for the 60 ham and cheese sandwiches. The success of this student-led initiative has the potential to expand and have a lasting impact.
