Spanish Program

¡Saludos! Yo soy la Maestra Gutiérrez y estoy tan emocionada de enseñar español este año. Greetings! I am Ms. Gutiérrez, and I am so excited to teach Spanish this year. My first language was Spanish but transformed as my older brother began school in Texas and my family transitioned to speaking English in our home. That being said, I am very motivated to share and grow my mother language with our students at Sawyer Road.

I am very proud of and value my Latino heritage — my father was born in Costa Rica, and my mother is of Mexican descent. I grew up in Georgia and received both my undergraduate and master's degree from KSU. I have also been an art teacher and an ESOL teacher at Sawyer Road and look forward to combining all of my skills to teach our students basic Spanish vocabulary, conversational and literacy skills, and expanding their knowledge of Spanish-speaking countries around the world! ¡Vamonos!
